BLURB:
Casey Coffield has a growing list of personal flaws he keeps locked away in his head:
He’s never on time.
His list of IOUs to his best friend is endless.
Money is always short.
Goals are never in reach.
Oh, and he’s decided to add college drop-out to that list, too. He doesn’t really think that last one’s such a bad thing, but his family insists it is, so it stays on the list.
On paper, he’s a zero. But in person, when he’s mixing tracks for a sea of bodies at the hottest clubs and parties, he’s downright irresistible. Just-right stubble on his chin, body of a boxer and a smirk that stimulates all the right nerves—women have never been a problem. They flock to his swagger and fall for his charm…fast.
All except for this one.
Purple hair, gray eyes, a raspy voice and sass, Murphy Sullivan is a little bit country and a little bit rock-n-roll. And her and Casey? They have history. He can’t remember it, but she wrote a song about him—and it’s not exactly a love song. But it is good. Damn good. And uncovering her inspiration just might be the key to solving a few of his shortcomings—not to mention open doors to his own big break in the music industry.
But sometimes dreams get messy when they collide. Sometimes life changes patterns. A past paints the wrong picture and futures get cloudy. The only question that remains is who will you choose when the dust settles—you? Or the girl of your dreams?
EXCERPT:
She breathes in slowly, rolling on her back and stretching her arms over her head. The black T-shirt she’s wearing rides up enough that I see her sides and bare stomach above her low-slung jeans, and I think to myself how far I’ve come. Any other girl, some other place and time, and I would be switching gears right now, capitalizing, because I always get the girl. I just don’t always keep the girl. They learn things, grow tired of me, or, more often, I am bored and done before anything has a chance. It’s never been the right girl, really. But Murphy…she’s a keep kind of girl. And this whole thing started because she hates me, so patience is necessary. But I have had my hand on that stomach. I’ve felt how warm her skin is through layers of fabric. I bet her skin is searing bare.
Patience isn’t a virtue. Patience is a murderer of six-foot-one fools desperate to kiss girls who sing like angels and look like my dreams.

THE CONFESSIONS by Tiffany Reisz - REVIEW
You'll definitely want to read the main books from the series before you read this short story collection.
In this collection of short stories, fans get to meet Father Ballard as he hears the confessions of two of the main players of this amazing series. Father Marcus Stearns (Soren) is the first confession we read. Father Ballad has known Marcus for years and is well aware of his tendencies. As Marcus confesses about Eleanor and how she is tempting him and determined to enter a sexual relationship with him and how he wants the same thing, Father Ballard gives sound and practical advice. By the time the confession is over, Marcus has a plan of action in place and is glad he unloaded his burden to his trusted friend.
The second confession is from Eleanor. This one had me crying. It revolves around the plot of one of the books that I've had a hard time reading. I've started it, but can't seem to finish it because I'm not happy with the plot turn in it. The issue Eleanor is talking to Father Ballad about is something that killed me, too. Good God, the picture she accidentally finds in Soren's Bible. Tore me up!
My favorite parts are when Eleanor and Soren are together, so even though this book gives some behind the scenes type info, it isn't one that does anything to move the storyline forward. I was really hoping that these confessions would give some actual accounts of Soren and Eleanor together, but they didn't. So, while the book was interesting, I don't feel it is a must read.
The last confession in the book is really an interview with the author. I just skimmed it.
Have you read it? If so, what did you think?

A THOUSAND BOY KISSES by Tillie Cole
Age 5:
Rune moves with his family from Norway to Blossom Grove, GA. They moved next door to Poppy's family. In fact, their rooms are directly across from each other.
“Rune,” she said, her voice serious and strong, “you live right next door, you’re a Viking and I just love Vikings. I think we should be best friends.”
Age 8:
Poppy's grandma dies and leaves her with her life's grand adventure.
“I’ll give you a thousand kisses, Poppymin. All of them. No one will kiss you ever, but me.”
Age 15:
Rune's father is transferred back to Norway so the family has to move. The thought of separation is brutal for both Rune and Poppy. For a couple of months they talk on the phone every day, but one day Poppy stops returning Rune's calls. He can't find out what happened. All he knows is that Poppy's family has left town and no one knows why. Rune blames his father for forcing him to leave Poppy and starts to hang out with a rough crowd, partying, and smoking. Anger is all he feels.
Age 17:
Rune's family moves back to Blossom Grove. Poppy has returned to town, too. She is nervous to see Rune and neither know how to act. They just know that things aren't the same and that they might never be again. Poppy is determined to keep the reason she disappeared a secret. She's convinced it's for the best and that she's protecting Rune from devastation, but staying away is harder and harder as time goes by. Poppy realizes she can't stand seeing Rune with other girls and when she's finally had enough when she sees him at a party she runs away only to be chased home by Rune.

When Rune catches up with Poppy in their favorite cherry blossom orchard he demands to know what happened. Eventually, he wears her down and she confesses everything. Poppy and Rune begin the process of getting to know each other again. Poppy is also determined to bring out the old Rune again - the Rune she fell in love with when she was a child. It turns out that what Rune needed was his Poppy because slowly but surely he lets go of his anger.
“Kiss four hundred and thirty-four, with my Rune at the beach … when his love came home.”
A THOUSAND BOY KISSES is a beautiful story. It is different from any other book that Tillie Cole has written. Her other books are pretty edgy and this one is a true young adult novel. Be prepared though, you'll need kleenex from the get go.
You'll fall in love with Poppy and Rune and won't want the story to end. While I'm thrilled that this is a standalone novel, I was sad when it was time to leave their world. But when I did, I totally felt like I'd been through the wringer. A THOUSAND BOY KISSES is definitely an emotional ride. Be sure to download your badge of honor after you finish this heart-wrenching love story. I did!

After spending time in a juvenile detention center and finally aging out of the foster care system, Declan realized that he wanted more out of life. Working as a ranch hand would end up being the start of his new life and the first step of making his dreams come true.
When he winds up at Harlan Brooks' ranch he's looking for a summer job. What he ends up getting is much more intense and life changing. The first time he see Kara, Harlan's daughter, he is captivated. Her beauty makes it hard for him to focus, but Harlan quickly puts things in perspective when he makes it clear that Kara is off limits. Declan is determined to keep is hands off because he doesn't want anything to mess up his chances for his next job in the fall. He knows Harlan could ruin his future if he wanted to. Staying away from Kara turns out to be extremely hard. Especially when Kara is determined to make Declan hers.
Kara is 18, getting ready to graduate high school, and loves living on her family's ranch. The minute she sees Declan she feels something she's never felt before - a connection like no other. She does everything she can to get his attention, but he maintains a distance from her that is frustrating. Over the course of the summer tension only increases until it finally breaks, but the consequences are great and break both of their hearts.
After her father's death, the ranch goes into bankruptcy and Kara is left with very few options. So, after six of not seeing him, Kara is forced to go see Declan to ask for help. Declan has made a big name for himself in the business world in the time he's been gone, but since Kara doesn't even know why Declan disappeared from her life without a word, she doesn't know if he'll be willing to give her the money she needs to keep the ranch.
Declan has always wanted Kara. He considers her the one that got away and now he realizes that he has a chance to get her right where he wants her. He's willing to help her. He could write a check as soon as she walks through the door, but he wants her. He wants her to submit to him. Declan makes Kara an offer. If she spends one week with him and is willing to do everything he wants he'll give her the money she needs to keep the ranch. It doesn't take very long for Kara to decide. She's always wanted Declan and now she gets the chance. What she doesn't know is if she'll survive leaving at the end of the week. Why did Declan leave in the first place? Does he just want a sexual plaything for the week or does he feel something for her?
Soon Declan and Kara are deeply involved in a emotional struggle. Neither knowing how the person really feels, but too afraid to bring it up. Will they finally realize they belong together or has too much time passed?

UNDONE by Callie Harper
A children's librarian and a rock star. At first glance it doesn't seem like a likely match, but once you take a closer look, you see they fit together like the pieces of a puzzle.
Anika (Ana) Ivanov young woman living on her own in New York City. She comes from a very protected life - her parents still worry over her being away from home, but she is determined to live her life as she sees fit. While her parents hoped for her to become a concert pianist, Ana's didn't the drive for that life and instead went to school to obtain a Master of Library Science and become a children's librarian. [SIDENOTE: I also have a MLS and am a librarian. I was a school librarian and worked with elementary and middle school kids until I finished my Ph.D. and started working at a university teaching in a MLS program.]
Ash Black is a ROCK GOD. He's the lead singer of wildly popular band and in a bit of a pickle in regards to his public image. His ex-girlfriend set him up. She recorded their very public break-up that she staged which made him look like a giant ass. Now, he's known as the guy who broke the heart of American's sweetheart. His publicity team comes up with a plan. He needs to find a nice girl to have a fake relationship with for a month. During that time they'll be sure to stage photo ops to make it look like he's a great guy and falling in love. He'll ask this girl to marry him during his scheduled Superbowl Halftime performance to the delight of the fans. Then, a couple of weeks later, the fake girlfriend will break up with him, which will in turn get him public sympathy.
Even going out for a simple cup of coffee isn't possible anymore. While being chased by the paparazzi, Ash ducks into the first building he can find and hides behind a desk. It turns out he ran into Ana's library branch. As any good children's librarian can, she handles the craziness with calm and grace. She sends the rude photographers out of the library and give Ash refuge. Of course, Ana realizes who Ash is once she gets a good look at him. She's been a fan of the band for ages and listens to their music all the time. She considers this her one brush with celebrity as she takes Ash to the back entrance to leave.
But, Ash has a proposition for her. He wants Ana to be his fake girlfriend for the month. He's willing to pay her just about anything she wants and it turns out that Ana needs something very important. Her library branch is about to be shut down due to lack of funding. In exchange for her services, she asks Ash to agree to fund her branch for twenty years. He gladly accepts her condition and get his lawyers on it. Soon Ana is flooded with non-disclosure agreements and contracts to sign. She is whisked away for shopping and beauty treatments. Her first thoughts are, What did I get myself into?
UNDONE is told in three parts and the second story in the BEG FOR IT series. Ana and Ash are so hot together that there is sexual and emotional tension throughout every part of the story. At times it's also heartbreaking because you see how things are going wrong and you want to yell at them to open their eyes and see what's happening right in front of them. Ash is surrounded by the wild life and finds it hard to break away from his bandmate and best friend who isn't taking well to Ash's growing feelings toward Ana. Ash finds himself torn - does he follow his heart or stay loyal to his band?

HOW TO TAME BEASTS AND OTHER WILD THINGS by A. Wilding Wells
Book Synopsis:
My name is Matilda Pearl. My life is a non-stop riddle I hope to one day solve.
I’ve learned to protect my heart; fate has dealt me more than a few shit cards in my twenty-two years. Invisibility tops my list, not to mention tragedy.
I was yanked out of a Paris-France life by my ass of a father, and thrown into a one year journey on a farm in Wisconsin. I’ve been assigned the impossible: Wife Catcher.
Simply put, until I replace myself I’m Mary Poppins, the beast tamer, ringmaster of the unruly, complete with twin toddlers and a beast of a man. Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to my three-ring circus.
There are so many things to like about this book.
1) Matilda Pearl is wonderful. She is silly, quirky, and so nice. Her klutziness is endearing. I love her constant battle with the stairs. And, who in the world house trains a donkey?
2) Balthazar is amazingly sexy. He's a great dad. He is so willing to open his heart to Matilda and once he's in he does whatever he can to fight for their relationship.
3) The twin boys are hilarious and adorable.
4) The chemistry is off the hook between Matilda and Balthazar.
This book has so much. Humor, heartwarming storyline, and super hot steamy scenes. It was pretty much a one-sitting read. Definitely one to put on your to-read pile. I mean, come on....look at that cover!
Just picturing Balthazar in a kilt. *purrs*
