UNSEEN MESSAGES by Pepper Winters - REVIEW

From New York Times Bestseller Pepper Winters comes a timeless love story answering the question of what happens when everything is stripped away.

FYI - It you are a fan of Pepper Winters, be aware that this book is UNLIKE anything else she has ever written. While this book has some amazing sex scenes in it, it doesn't focus on that aspect of the story. This is not a BDSM story. This is a survival story.

As an only child I would often play, what I would call, "survival." I would put all the things I didn't think I could live without on my bed and then pretend that I was either lost at sea or stranded on a deserted island.  I have always loved survival stories. OMG! I remember when Alive came out. I went to the movies and read the book.  While the island that Galloway and Estelle crashed on is different, there was still that excitement of struggling for survival. (Don't worry, they don't have to resort to cannibalism in UNSEEN MESSAGES.)

This review isn't going to contain a lot of information about the plot because I don't want to spoil anything for the readers.

Estelle and Galloway are among a group of people that are desperate to get to a resort on one of the Fiji islands. The problem is, there is a terrible storm that has grounded all flights. By using a lot of money as incentive, they finally convince a helicopter pilot to take them to the island even though the storm is still raging and the helicopter doesn't have a working locator beacon. As you already know from the teasers and the face that this is a survival story, the helicopter doesn't make it. It crash lands and only 4 of the 7 people that took off from the airport survive. Estelle, Galloway, and two kids. Together they find a way to survive. Together they build a family. Together they create memories. Together they fall in love with their island.

Their time on the island isn't without struggle. They have setbacks. They have heartbreak. But, they also have love.

This isn't an insta-love situation, which makes it good. That's not to say there isn't an attraction between them because there is. Even before the crash. When they see each other in the airport leaving the United States they feel the pull of each other, but they try to ignore it, both for their own reasons.

Estelle is an introverted songwriter that was thrust into fame because her best friend posted a video of her singing to YouTube.

Galloway is a man riddled with guilt. After spending time in prison, he doesn't feel deserving of love.

You are definitely going to need Kleenex for this book. I cried through several parts and even after it still stuck with me. UNSEEN MESSAGES is a book that will stick with you for a while.
