REVIEW:

I'll start off by saying that I LOVE this series. The Winston brothers are amazing and all of them seem to be scorchingly HOT!!! In book one, TRUTH OR BEARD, we met Duane and *wipes drool* he is amazing. GRIN AND BEARD IT introduces us to Jethro, the tortured national park ranger.

GRIN AND BEARD IT is a one-sitting read. It is a sweet romance with a little heat. There are so many laugh-out-loud moments. Sienna is an amazing Latina character with curves. By society's standards, she is considered plus size, but as you'll find out she is only a size 10 or 12. She is breaking boundaries in the movie industry as America's top comedic writer/actress.

Sparks fly as soon as Jethro and Sienna meet. It doesn't take long for feelings to grow between these two, but they are total opposites. Sienna is from a totally different world than Jethro. She is used to bright lights and star-studded events while Jethro spends his time with bears and his brothers. Deep down, Jethro doesn't feel like he deserves happiness. He wasn't a good guy prior to the time he spent in the Army and became a park ranger. He constantly looks for ways to make amends and make up for all his past sins.

Sienna is such a strong woman, but even she can't break through Jethro's walls. Thank goodness for Cletus, another Winston brother. He has a plan to get Jethro on track and to finally claim Sienna as his own.

GRIN AND BEARD IT is amazing. You don't have to read TRUTH OR BEARD first to get full enjoyment of the story because it can totally stand alone. These are more companion books than sequels. Ashley Winston, the boys' sister, and her husband, Jethro's boss, make an appearance in this book. If you want to experience their story you'll need to read BEAUTY AND THE MUSTACHE. Jethro placed his coffee on the small table and leaned back at an angle on one arm, his long legs stretched out in front of him, crossed at the ankles. My tummy fluttered with excitement as I sat on the floor next to him and picked up the frosted confection. I was going to smudge the corner of my mouth with frosting.

And then he was going to lick it off.

And then we were going to kiss.

And then . . . good things after that. Hopefully including but not limited to rolling around and making out on the carpet. And then sex!

Holding Jethro’s eyes with mine, which were heavily lidded and hot with interest, I took a small bite, careful to dab the side of my mouth with the frosting.

But then something unexpected happened and it startled me out of my sexy thoughts.  

The doughnut was insanely delicious. 

Insanely. Delicious.

It was still warm from the oven, and it melted on my tongue. It was sweet, but tempered by a center filled with rich, smooth, bitter high-quality chocolate crème.

Unable to help myself, I moaned, “Oh my God.”

Jethro’s lips quirked to the side, his eyes on my mouth, and—right on cue—he leaned forward. “You have something just there.” 

I ignored him, swatting his hand away, and took another bite, speaking around a mouth full of heaven on earth. “Holy shit, this is the best thing I’ve ever tasted.”

Jethro rolled his lips between his teeth, his eyes bright with laughter, and watched me devour the doughnut. 

I continued to moan with each bite, licking and sucking my fingers until it was gone. Completely preoccupied, I didn’t notice the shift in his mood. I was just about to lick off the last of the crème when he caught my wrist, forcing my attention to him. My protest died on my lips as the weight and intensity of his gaze hit me. He looked hungry.

To be more precise, he looked ravenous. 

Jethro brought my finger to his lips and sucked it into his mouth, his tongue darting out to lick the junction between my index and middle finger. The light, slick touch sent unexpected trembles to my low belly and pulled a soft whimper from the back of my throat. 

“As I was saying,” his darkened gaze drifted hotly from my eyes to my lips, and he used my hand as leverage to tug me forward, “you have something . . .”

He didn’t finish the sentence. Instead he licked the corner of my mouth and then delved his tongue ardently between my lips, caressing mine hungrily. Jethro’s grip on me shifted. His arm came around my waist, supporting me, while my hands cupped his jaw. 

In a controlled and graceful movement, he rolled me onto my back, held himself above my body, and claimed my mouth. I felt his fingers on my thigh, sliding the hem of my skirt higher, skimming fingertips between my legs. Instinctively, I arched and strained, wanting to be touched, needing him to touch me.

“Undo your shirt,” he ordered, pulling his mouth from mine and fastening it to my neck.

“Why don’t you—”

“Because I’ll rip it off.”

REVIEW:

I'm a big fan of Katy Regnery. I think my favorite is NEVER LET YOU GO, but DARK SEXY KNIGHT is a close second.

As soon as Colt sees Verity standing looking lost and alone at the job fair, he knows she is going to be trouble. He can't seem to stop himself from walking across the room to talk to her.

Verity is at the end of her rope. Since losing both of her parents and the family farm, it's down to her to take care of her older brother, a mentally disabled, thirty-something-old man. If they don't get a job soon they'll be in trouble. Already she is dodging the manager at the cheap and dirty motel they are staying at. The challenge is that she needs a job with her brother so she can be there if he needs her.

When Colt hears her story he immediately decides to help. Since he is there representing the place he works, a medieval knight dinner show, he approaches the HR person that came with him and talks them up.

Colt gets even more involved with Verity when he drives her home from the job fair he finds that she and her brother have been kicked out of their motel room. He feels like there is nothing left to do but take her home with him. It is at the motel that Verity gets a look at what Colt has to fight to keep under control every day - his rage. When a couple of low-lifes start giving Verity's brother a hard time, Colt goes to defend him. After beating them pretty badly, it's Verity that calms him down enough to get in the car and drive home. Colt's worried that Verity will be afraid of him, but it's just the opposite. She feels safe and protected. No one has ever taken care of her like that before.

It doesn't take long for Verity and her brother to become an important part of Colt's life, but his past makes a reappearance and threatens the happiness they have together. Do either of them have courage to make it work? Is love worth the pain?

DARK SEXY KNIGHT is a one-sitting read. It's a sweet romance with super hot scenes. In addition to the sexual tension it includes a great look at family as both Colt and Verity are caring for family members with special needs. You don't have to read the other two books in the series since these are all standalone, but I suggest you go back and read THE VIXEN AND THE VET and NEVER LET YOU GO.

"Virgil." The six letters roll down my tongue like honey. I love saying his name. I love hisname. A peculiar name for a peculiar guy. Inspired by Dante. Virgil, the guide through Hell.
As much as I hate to admit it, Meghan, a perfect stranger has a point.
"You ran into Bruce's arms after Virgil rejected you, twice if I heard you correctly. What's the big deal? You chose Bruce and he chose you. You'll figure things out if or when Virgil is back in the picture. This is not the time, and maybe you won't feel the same when you guys meet again. Or maybe you'll want to break it off with Bruce. Take this one step at a time. Thinking about Virgil doesn't mean you don't have feelings for Bruce.
And even if you don't, at least you have great sex."
When she says it like this, it sounds so simple.
"Has Bruce ever complained?" I shake my head no. "See, you're both getting something out of this relationship. Think positive. Enjoy yourself."
"Meghan's right, Rose. You've been depressed enough for a lifetime!"

That's a way to put it. Let's see where she's going.
"In his own way, he's using you, too. We're all using people one way or another. You shouldn't care what other people think. Nobody would question your behavior if you were a guy. They'd call you a Don Juan or a manwhore and look at you in awe. And it's not like you're even screwing the whole neighborhood. Look, you only got one life. One chance to test and learn. You will screw up eventually, we all do. But you got back on your own two feet the first time, didn't you?"
Sure, Guillaume ruined a year of my life because I let him.
"You should have the upper hand. You're in control of your own life."
Am I? She sees my doubtful pout.
"Seize the day." That does ring a bell. I succeeded in forgetting my own motto from Bret Easton Ellis' book Rock' n' Roll, deal with itÖ "Every girl should. You're an Amazon, strong, independent. Embrace your life as it is, Rose."
More words of wisdom. And with that she strides to the cash register. She thanks us for the nice chat and says she'll see us around, eventually.
"Take care girls." She waves at us, smiling. Hopefully she'll have fun with her boyfriend tonightÖ
As for me, I do miss Virgil. I love my life here but if I had the choice between this and a go with Virgil, I wouldn't hesitate. I want him completely, flaws included. Demi should know this to understand where I'm coming from.
Why hadn't I thought about this before? I'm glad I told her. She doesn't judge. She doesn't berate. She doesn't pretend.
